  • Why are humans not perfect? ・ Be aware of your own defects and grow ・ Trusting others and helping each other I thought it was to make you notice.

  • stupid ending lol

  • he was perfect from the very start but he was blind to know that . -truth

  • When you thought you had all good answers in the math test but the teacher corrects your copy right in front of you

  • I like how this series gets classical Western philosophy so much better than any modern work. It makes me curious to know if Hiromu Arakawa has read Aristotle or Boethius. For anyone curious, the answer to the little on in the flask is spelled very clearly at the end of chapter 4 of the Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius, and elaborated in chapter 5. We should remember Psalm 131 too, I guess.

  • c la croute de pizza brulée!

  • 2:19 To quote TheRussianBadger from his Mad Max with Spiders Video "Bring that ass here boy."

  • My favourite scene in the whole series

  • "what should i have done?' live you idiot live.... stop focusing on your point of view and see the world by living it.

  • "What wrong with learning everything?" your Door is empty, you didn't learn anything

  • This one villain getting what he deserved broke my heart more than any other

  • It's funny that truth wasn't necessarily against apotheosis truth just didn't like that it was through something so base as removing your sins

  • Fun Fact: Homunculus have an oroborus tatoo. Oroborus is a snake eating its own tail. Father Homunculus death is very metaphorical as his body eats its own self.

  • "If you become obssesed with power and strength, they will become your downfalls" -Me

  • Homunculus: Who the hell do you think you are? Truth: I'm about to ruin this man's whole career

  • I've only ever watched the dub for FMAb, sub version of this scene hits kinda different

  • After all these years, idk who is that white thing or what they even talking about.

  • Ha.

  • yo wtf did i just watch...

  • Imagine flipping the channels, and seeing out of context these 2 high-pitched cartoon puffballs having deep philosophical talk while intense music is playing, and having no idea what this show is even about XD That's what I onced imagine when I saw this years ago xD

  • He is sooo cute tho in a strange way lol

  • Mike Wazoski(black)

  • TacoBellBongSFX.avi

  • But nobody talks about how Dwarf sounds like a minion.

  • This was the moment I felt so sorry for him. Even though his methods were not right, he wanted to learn everything about the world. When he asks "what's wrong with desiring that", God actually smiles because there's nothing wrong trying to learn everything. He spent centuries trying to become God not realizing he was already close to being one. He could have used his knowledge and studied in those 400 years. He's a character with motive, and that is why I admire Father.

  • This is actually sad -- even if he didn't "learn anything" like what could the world actually teach a demi-god like entity anyways? To be compassionate? Hah -- yeah right. If the void that birthed him is that callous and cruel why is there an expectation that anything born from it would be any different? and if that is truly the world, god, and all existence including himself, why would it judge anything? That's like hating on one of your feet because it tapped once off beat during a song you like and you decide to chop it off.

  • I think he is the embodiment of what Jung called 'unearned wisdom'.

  • I'm glad the original FMA anime got made, so that it could be separate from this typical shounen garbage.

    • @J RHardly, The manga is a best of both worlds , Dante isnt really that much of a better villain then father as i think they are both great. Had brother hood been done in 03s style it would have been the definitive version Fma fans seem like they are embarassed that the series is considered shonen and not seinen lol. Just like HxH fanboys I guess

    • @Billy Boleson It's really not. The 03 anime team did a much better job than even the manga.

    • I love how 03 fanboys say Brotherhood is bad because "its more shonen'ey" as if thats a valid explanation as to why 03 is better.....the fma manga is better then both Brotherhood AND 03 anyway

  • Humbly accepting the sins as a part of who you are is the answer.

  • The truth somehow has the voice of goku

  • I think he got his wish, but it was worse than he thought. He thought he would get to control the Truth and become God, but he was only able to return to it to "become God." //His identity is erased, he is again part of the One.// "This is the outcome you desired."

  • Dwarf: What should I have done?! Truth: Imma pretend like I didn't hear that

    • WE DO NOT WANT YOU EVERYWHERE!

    • STOP COMMENTING AND GTFO FROM UZfire!!!

    • are you the anime version of Christopher Moon?

    • hey its you

    • I think he knows the answer, but he just didn't do any and that is why he leaves no marks on his door, nor his life

  • Just gotta say, kinda gay mate.

  • Anime?

  • I never noticed how heavily this scene is inspired by Buddhist philosophy in becoming the “perfect one”, “God.” The homunculus talks about being freed from any bounds that maybe limited by the self, which in Buddhism is described as obtaining nirvana, to be freed of the “I” or the self. What we know as the seven deadly sins are equivalent to “thirst,” our humanly desires, as described in Buddhism, which in removing, would free ourselves from the realm of muddy forms where one is reincarnated until they obtain the higher state. The homunculus in the glass transitions and is reincarnated in to various forms to obtain god, but never obtained it because he never removed his desire of seeking perfection, his desire to be god. He was adding to obtain perfection, instead or removing from the “I.”

  • As a Christian, I adored the underlying themes of this show. They were executed flawlessly

    • @Angry Grievous _Adding to what Marx said:_ i.e. it's an appeal to ethos

    • @Angry Grievous It's a showing of authority and merit -- ideally, their religious status lends credence to their judgement of the work over someone who isn't as familiar with Christian themes. Alas, most christians care not for their own teachings, and indeed act more like Marcus Pontius Pilatus' loyal centurions than anything close to the messiah, so it holds little ground.

    • As a catholic, I adored the fact you said this without anyone needing to know that.

  • ah yes when they animated a dmt trip

  • dang that sucks

  • Truth: For the first time he stopped smiling. Mabel: He'll be back)

  • " When you can't make them see the light, *make them feel the heat* " -- Reagan

  • who is that GUY?

  • He's going to 🇧🇷

  • Did not scare the shit out of you as a kid. This might be the source of my existential dread

  • Despair to those who become boastful.

  • Be Humble about your life. Just that and go on~ Indeed this anime teaches many wisdom

  • What all the seven deadly sins called father, they were actually praising a tiny ball of dust and probably didn’t know about it, making all their deaths utterly meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Truly the definition of despair

    • At least Pride was aware

  • "It's more that you were being such a colossal fucking prick about it."

  • Sounds like Goku

  • What I learned from the anime Dont try to be God Dont fuck around with God

  • yes

  • Ew it’s the sub

    • @Billy Boleson man why do you have to be so annoying? I don't like dubbed anime, i don't like dubbed anything, at no point i said something stupid like "the sub is objectively better", so can you just shut the fuck up please

    • @Enilton Rogerio Yeah your right i forgot to mention Cowboy Bebop, trigun, Dragon Ball and Hellsing. On a more serious note the characters are all european in fma anyway so most just prefer the more accurate take

    • @Billy Boleson no

    • @Enilton Rogerio FMAB dub is objectively better then the sub.....same with D Gray Man and YYh

    • @Enilton Rogerio The Dub on this is actualy fine but the OV is just the best

  • Not dubbed. Upvote.

    • @Billy Boleson same....

    • Unironically the only time ive seen a clip of FMA in sub. Sounds about the same tbh lol

  • This really was a good anime.

  • I would feel bad but that dwarf in the glass did planned out genocides plural for hundreds if not thousands of years fuck that guy.

    • For him taking a Human life isnt different then for a Human to take the life of a Fish. In the beginning he had to take lifes to gain the freedom to move at all. If that is evil or not is hardly up for debate. But after he had a Body that could roam the earth he still felt trapped and there was one beeing keeping him from ultimate freedom, so he wanted to become that beeing.

  • It's funny that his downfall was his greed to be more ,but out of all the homunculus greed was the only one that lived along side humanity and was satisfied

  • Black dot vs white dot ☯️

  • Is funny because you see theories and studies since the dawn of time about the meaning of life, The Dwarf represents those that sunk in those studies for years that forgot to actually live.

  • Flask literally went from nothing(NOT EVEN HAVING A BODY, HE HAD TO MANIPULATE ANOTHER) to taking godhood. Meanwhile, God who has always had everything for eternity is talking crap about stealing. Like bruh, if this was reversed, you'd probably try to pull the same thing, but it's okay if you do it, right? Hypocrite.

    • @Enilton Rogerio are you refering to the humonculus? Because i was talking about God. That guy lives in Hell. And the Original Homunculus, after years of supposed freedom, returned to hell.

    • @Nimar not really, before he became "father" he was a friend of hohenheim for years, and he probably talked to even more people, he has interacted with people for centuries, and i wouldn't really call it hell, that's where he's from after all

    • What does he have exactly? Around 10-20 Conversations in a Human lifetime and gets to and has to see everything. That is hell.

    • I don't think you get it, "god" isn't mad at him because he wanted to become god, he's mad because of the way he did it

  • Reading through this comment section sparks so much joy on a philosophy-loving person like me. Just so many people able to grasp what the moment means, what the lines lead to, the meaning, the fitting punishment, and even beyond the scene. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is an anime, a life lesson, and a lesson about our world and the people in it.

  • fun fact: this is the forever #1 ranking in Myanimelist, only once was #2 when Kimi no Nawa hype was ongoing.

  • Line

    • @Climber np I appreciate it anyway.

    • I'm Japanese sorry

    • @Free Man sorry I don’t know

    • Would you happen to have the Romaji translation?

  • Their Kinda cute for me.

  • I can’t stop watching this scene, it’s just so damn good.

  • The last words of the series (I think) "I think I'd be happy, if I could just leave this glass..." We are the ones that want to play, always wanna go but you never wanna stay.

  • In the end i truly feel bad for him. Everytime i watch the anime from start to end. I would gladly give an arm or a leg to bring him back to the world. But this way, me and him would walk in harmony and do things the right way instead.

    • And he would out of fear do it all again.

  • nice.

  • Anime?

    • Name: Fullmetal alchemist Brotherhood
